Interested in earning a commission in the United States Marine Corps as an Officer - VMI a good route to take?

I am currently in my Junior year of High School, so it's around the time where I am going to start having to apply to colleges soon. My grades aren't the best but they aren't bad either (A's and B's). I am interested earning a commission in the United States Marine Corps as an officer. I love the military culture and physical activity. I have looked into programs such as NROTC at other public schools and the PLC program. I was wondering if going to VMI would be a good route to take? Just want to know some pros/cons (especially regarding going into the USMC from VMI). Anyone can answer, but I would preferably like some first hand information from people who actually know what they are talking about. Thanks for your time guys.
