Normal PAP Smear with positive HPV but no warts?

I recently went to the gyn and got tested for stds/hiv...my pap smear came back normal but I tested positive for hpv...I have done some research on this but I don't have any genital warts...my gyn said for me to just come back for another pap in one yr....I am really freaking out because I just don't understand...I am 33 yrs old, so is it too late to get the vaccine? Can I still get the vaccine after the virus leaves??
