If you marry someone and you have student loans, do your debts become their debts and vice versa?

They're still your own debt. I'm getting married and I have student loans... no reason whatsoever for them to be my husband to be's problem, unless I for some weird reason wasn't paying them and wasn't putting money into the monthly payments of the home or something. Then I'd be a problem in general!
